**disclaimer: The information in this newsletter is in no way a complete list of activities in the Austin/GWNN area. For comprehensive information please visit the web pages of various groups, attend munches, or ask your friends. We have made every effort to include as much up to date information as possible. GWNN wholeheartedly supports all local and area groups and hopes every person who sets out to find a comfortable place to be who they are, learn, grow and find friends is successful in their journey.

Opinions and ideas expressed by individuals in interviews are their own and the Newsletter allows and encourages their free expression. The newsletter volunteers make every effort to double check the information here, but it is not impossible that we may miss something. If you note an error or mis-information, please let us know so we can correct it.

GWNN Newsletter welcomes all information from area groups about their gatherings and special events. While it would be very time and space consuming to detail every single group every month, we will gladly list your special events and parties and include web pages and links so that interested persons can find out more.

If you are reading this on the web and would like to get it in your own email Press Here. We have had many “bouncing” emails from people we know are active members. Perhaps a move or a change of internet providers has meant a change of email address. If you think this might be why you are not receiving GWNN emails and special announcements please re-subscribe by Pressing Here.

A New Year For GWNN

Last month the GWNN membership elected a new Board of Directors. The past year saw more than its share of strife and an incredible number of board resignations. Many people talk about “GWNN” as if GWNN itself is an entity. We need to remember that GWNN is people. GWNN is a collection of individuals just like you, and you, and you. GWNN is not just one or two people who always seem to be in the spotlight. GWNN is not just the people who seem to have an innate ability to stir the pot; nor is it just the people who somehow always know the right thing to say to sooth everyone’s nerves. GWNN is not just the volunteers who set up equipment or make sure the food is organized. GWNN is the person who can only attend one or two parties a year because they have to find a babysitter. GWNN is the couple who are trying to figure out how to make their feelings work and manage jobs and families. GWNN is the new, frightened sub trying to learn how to be safe while they experience the heady excitement of finding a play partner. GWNN is someone who believes that we all have the right to pursue relationships that make us happy and fulfill our needs. GWNN is You.

There is a saying about the total of something being more than the sum of its parts. That applies to GWNN. Separately each of us would still be wondering if these things we feel are weird, or even worse – seriously sick. Together we seek and learn and teach and share and grow. Individually, we would still be reading porn at home and feeling like we didn’t fit anyplace in society. Together we have formed a society with munches and informative gatherings and hot parties where we can dress – or undress – any way that makes us feel good and do things to each other that make us feel even better. Together we have formed a society where we all fit. Together we have made a place where no one needs to feel odd or weird or sick; a place where “perverted” is a good thing.

Saturday the 21st is a GWNN play party. It will be the last party of 2009. The new board will officially take the reins of GWNN in hand. Let’s give them the support they deserve so they can focus on running GWNN.

Last Party of 2009!!!!!

It’s a Party Month!

Third Saturday, November 21, 2009 at the SRL.

To celebrate and give thanks with our many friends in GWNN, this month’s party will be pot luck. We hope everyone will express their creative side and provide us each with a delectable contribution for a delightful feast! In order to keep from having 18 Green Bean casseroles, we came up with a system to help diversify the offerings – thank you Opal for suggesting this, I think it’s a great idea!

So if your scene name begins with:

  • A – F = ENTRÉE
  • G – N = SIDE DISH
  • O – Z = DESSERT

Isn’t this a fantastic system! I know, there may be someone out there saying, “But I can’t make my Aunt Charlotte’s award winning Chocolate fudge pecan pie because my scene name is Gnu!” Believe me, we understand! If you have that special dish you want to share, please feel free to do just that! We strive for diversity, not smorgasbord edicts Let’s all get together and celebrate this year, come together to renew old friendships and forge new ones, and party and play together honoring the heart of GWNN – kinky people doing kinky things in communal space.

Soft drinks and ice will be provided, as well as the appropriate paper accoutrements.

I, for one, am psyched about this – can’t wait to taste all the tantalizing dishes and hope this inspires everyone to reach new heights of creativity in their culinary adventures.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Black and Blue Santa

Greetings! I'm happy to announce that the elves are dusting off their tools, sweeping out the workshop, and tuning up the sleigh. Black and Blue Santa is officially up and running again! We are kicking off the holiday season with bells on and look forward to spreading as much good cheer as humanly possible!

Black and Blue Santa is `us' doing good things for `us'. We talk so often about the community being like a family and about supporting each other. The toy drive is a real way to step in "in real life" and help our friends with children who might need just a little extra effort from our community at this time of year. Please help us make sure that no child in our big `ole kinky family misses out on the fun of having some gifts to open for the holidays.

Last year we set a record (again) for how many kids we provided gifts for. This year the economy bites even more and it's likely to just keep getting worse for a lot of folks from now till Christmas. The need this year will be greater than ever!

You can be a big part of this community effort; we need your help! First of all, we need donations of cash and new, unwrapped gifts for kids of all ages. We are off to a good start this year following the Texas Hold'em tournament last month generously hosted by Cricket, but our list of kids will be bigger than ever this year, so please be generous. Everything helps; every handful of loose change adds up. Hopefully, most all Community events between now and mid-December will have some way to make donations. If you can't get to an event or no one from B&B Santa is there, please just drop us a note and we will gladly make arrangements to get together with you. We also need several people to volunteer to help us with collections, picking up donations, wrapping and distributing gifts.

The other way we need help is that we need to know what children Santa is buying gifts for. If you want a little help this year please do not be bashful. All are welcome! We are not affiliated with any one group and we make a sincere effort to assure that no one outside of B&B Santa knows the names of the families we make visits to.

If you would like to participate, please write us and let us know about your child(ren). If you know of someone whose child(ren) might need a couple of extra gifts this year, please let us know that as well. We will contact them torequest permission to include them in our drive and ask for further information about their child(ren). Please address all questions, requests for donation hand-off, and `nominations' to Miss Bunny at: Bostonsbunny@aol.com

Please be sure to put "Santa" in the subject line.

Thank you all for your support!

P.S. Any kink/lifestyle groups in the local area that want to take in donations for Black and Blue Santa, please have a representative contact us to coordinate announcements, event schedules, collections and donation hand-off. Please feel free to forward this announcement to other kink/lifestyle groups in the Greater Austin areas.

Foodie Fun

Everyone loves food and what better time to expand our repertoire than the holidays. It can be overwhelming at times, when we think about all the shopping and decorating gift wrapping and cleaning and cooking. Try and remember that the holidays are not about who can bake the biggest turkey or who makes the best pumpkin pie or who has the most lights on their roof or the most cookies baked; it is about being together with family and loved ones. Take some time to relax and just enjoy the beautiful fall weather.

Having a few fail safe recipes that are easy and quick can help. So here are some all time favorites that are as tasty as they are easy.

Cranberry Jello - good as a side dish for turkey or even as a dessert

Mix:

  • 1 sm. box blackberry jello,
  • 1 c hot water
  • 1/2 c cold water

chill until slightly firm
Add:

  • 1 cut up orange (small) (canned is OK too)
  • 1/2 c crushed pineapple (well drained)
  • 1 - 16 oz can cranberry sauce -- chopped
  • 1/2 c chopped pecans

Mix well -- chill until firm
To serve as a dessert, top with real whipped cream.
You can make this a day or two ahead. It will mold well, or just spoon out of a bowl.

Breakfast Pizza

Want to do something fun with little ones over the holiday break? Let them help you make pizza for breakfast that even the grown ups will enjoy.

  • 1 lb roll breakfast sausage
  • 1 pk Refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 c Frozen thawed hash brown potatoes
  • 1 c Sharp Cheddar cheese shredded
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/4 c Milk
  • 2 tb Grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1/8 ts Pepper

In a skillet, cook the sausage till brown; drain off fat.
Separate crescent roll dough into 8 triangles. Place on ungreased 12-in. pizza pan, with points toward the center. Press over bottom and up sides to form a crust; seal perforations.
Spoon cooked sausage over crust. Sprinkle with thawed hash brown potatoes. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
In a bowl, beat together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour into crust.
Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over all. Bake in a 375F oven for 25 to 30 minutes.

Really Easy Yummy Fruit Cobbler

  • 1 pkg (Duncan Hines) Moist Deluxe Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 1/4 cups chopped pecans or almonds or walnuts
  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 can (16.5 oz) Oregon Fruit Blueberries, well drained
  • 1 can (16.5 oz) Oregon Fruit Blackberries, well drained

Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 13x9x2-inch pan. For crust and topping, combine cake mix, oats, walnuts and butter in large bowl and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle half the mixture into pan. Spoon the drained fruit over the crust mixture in the pan. Sprinkle remaining crust mixture over fruit. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.
